A '50s & '60s Sock Hop to benefit the Milton Community Food Pantry will be held from 7 to 10 p.m., Saturday, July 29, at the Milton Fire Hall, 116 Front St., Milton. Tickets are $15 per person or $25 per couple, and each ticket includes a chance to win a 32-inch flat-screen TV.

DJ Mary "WooWoo" Buchness will be spinning music from the '50s and '60s, and there will be prizes for Best Dressed, Best Twist and Best Hula Hooper. Available refreshments (at '60s prices!) include hot dogs, sundaes and root beer floats.

Tickets are limited to 125 and may be purchased by calling 302-278-9557, or at the Pantry Table at the Wednesday night Milton Memorial Park concerts.

The public is invited to enjoy the fun while supporting the Milton Community Food Pantry. Event Chair Tom DiOrio said, "I hope this will be the first of many annual dances to raise money for the pantry."

Milton Community Food Pantry is at 114 Federal St. in Goshen Hall across from Milton Town Hall. Every Monday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., the pantry distributes food for three meals a day for three days to needy families in the area. Nonperishable food may be dropped off at Goshen Hall from 10 a.m. to noon, Sundays, and Mondays during distribution hours.

Anyone wishing to make monetary donations can mail them to P.O. Box 84, Milton, DE 19968. Last year the pantry provided food for 50 to 75 families a week. The pantry is staffed by an all-volunteer work force and supported by area businesses and individuals.
