Mispillion Kennel Club offers Canine Good Citizen Test June 30

June 24, 2016

The Mispillion Kennel Club will offer a Canine Good Citizen Test Thursday, June 30,  at the Milford Community Center, Front Street, Milford. Registration for the test will begin at 6:15 p.m., and will be taken until 7:15 p.m. The test will be run on a first come, first served basis beginning at 6:30.

The AKC Canine Good Citizen Test is open to all dogs – pure-bred and mixed-breeds. Dogs that have completed a basic obedience course and owner-trained dogs are welcome to participate. Owners will be required to show proof of rabies vaccine as required by the State. All dogs will be tested on a leash (six-foot maximum). No retractable leashes are permitted. Dogs should wear a well-fitting slip, martingale, or flat collar made of leather, fabric or chain. They may also wear a body harness for the test. Body harnesses should not restrict movement of the dog. Special training collars, such as pinch collars or head collars, are not permitted for testing. Owners are not permitted to use food (treats) during testing.

AKC Certified Canine Good Citizen evaluators will administer the test.

The cost of testing will be $10; the fee covers the cost of holding the event and of processing the necessary paperwork. Only cash and checks will be accepted. Teye cannot accept debit or credit cards.

Further information about the test may be obtained by calling 302-337-0142.
