Mispillion River beer-pairing dinner set Jan. 19

At Bethany Blues in Bethany
January 9, 2018

Bethany Blues is known for its excellent barbecue and down-home attitude. Going into the new year, Blues is planning some great events that meld the love of food and drink with its comfortable atmosphere. Kicking it off in 2018 for the Bethany Beach location is a collaborative pairing dinner for beer lovers featuring Mispillion River Brewery from 6 to 9 p.m., Friday, Jan. 19.

Tiffany Cordeaux, event coordinator for the Bethany Beach location, said, "Mispillion will be bringing three limited releases and two staple beers." To go along with the beers, the team has crafted a five-course meal that begins with a nacho bar and finishes with chocolate stout cheesecake. It's the type of beer dinner that follows convention, but only slightly. For example, there will be a fish course and a meat course, but in true Blues style, they are a beer and Old Bay seafood bake, and a smoked pork tenderloin.

Pairing dinners have become popular in recent years and can often be associated with wine. The beer dinners offer a more accessible bent for those who enjoy beer, and they boast rib-sticking meals customers enjoy. Blues chefs love putting their spin on these dinners by incorporating the brews not only as complements to the food, but also as cooking ingredients. This detail sets Bethany Blues apart from the pack and makes for a fun menu.

Aside from the theme of beer and barbecue, there are also the local breweries in coordination with the restaurant that make for an additional element of community. Local connections foster success, and this is a huge part of the appeal for Bethany Blues. Cordeaux said, "We love partnering to ensure that small businesses are supporting each other's growth." The beer dinner is the perfect pairing of this concept in practice.

Tickets for the dinner are $35 and do not include gratuity. For more information or to purchase tickets, go to www.bethanyblues.com.
