Mispillion River Brewing will host its annual law enforcement fundraiser Short 'N Stout from 1 to 6 p.m., Saturday, June 3, in memory of Georgetown Police Officer Chad Spicer.

Short 'N Stout has a lot to live up to in its third year: years one and two successfully raised over $19,000 for the National Criminal Enforcement Association's Officer in Distress Fund. This fund responds to any monetary difficulties that may arise for officers and their families, before insurance or state funds are received. This year, Short 'N Stout donations will benefit the family of Officer Shawn Brittingham, whose 3-year old daughter, Gabriella, is being treated for cancer.

Short 'N Stout will take place at Mispillion River Brewing in Milford, and will feature a variety of free activities. The Scott Bloodsworth Band will kick off the entertainment at 1 p.m., and Human Connection will rock the house beginning at 4 p.m. Live and silent auctions will allow attendees to support the Brittingham family. Additionally, Haass' on the Go and Po' Boys Creole will be on-site vending food.

No event at Mispillion would be complete without beer. Bottles of Short 'N Stout, a Chad Spicer-inspired beer, will be released at 1 p.m., and bottles 1 to 10 will be sold during the live portion of the auction. Last year, bottle one brought in $2,700. All the money raised through bottle sales is given to the fund. A total of 35 bottles will be available to the public, and all proceeds will be donated to the cause.
