Movies on Tap donates $3,150 to Food Bank

Crooked Hammock tasting April 21 to benefit Best Buddies Delaware
April 21, 2017

The Movies on Tap team recently visited Dew Point Brewing Co. in Yorklyn to present a check for $3,150 to the Food Bank of Delaware as a result of the March Movies on Tap event.

Movies on Tap screened the 1999 comedy "Office Space" and hosted Dew Point Brewing Co. for beer tastings prior to the movie at Penn Cinema on the Riverfront in Wilmington. Each month, 99 percent of ticket sales benefit the participating brewery's charity of choice. Dew Point Brewing Co. selected the Food Bank of Delaware as its beneficiary. The recent donation will help create over 6,000 meals for local Delawareans in need.

This is the third-highest Movies on Tap total raised behind Dogfish Head in December 2016 and Bellefonte Brewing Company in January.

Each month, Movies on Tap attendees enjoy a unique opportunity to meet with a local brewer, sample and learn about their beer and then watch a cult-classic film on the big screen, all for a good cause. The $20 price of admission includes beer samples, movie ticket and popcorn, while 99 percent of proceeds benefit the brewer's charity of choice. To date, Movies on Tap has helped raise $23,000 for local nonprofit organizations.

Crooked Hammock of Lewes will be the featured brewery for the tasting at 6:30 p.m., Friday, April 21, at Penn Cinema on the Riverfront, Wilmington. Best Buddies Delaware is the selected beneficiary. The movie “Beerfest” will be screened at 7:05 p.m. For more information, go to www.penncinema.com/movie/beerfest.
