New faculty announced at Music School of Delaware Milford branch

The Music School of Delaware announced a number of new faculty members have joined its branch in downtown Milford. "These instructors expand the reach of our already high-caliber faculty roster," says Music School Dean Cheri Astolfi. "We are happy to offer a continually high level of expertise to students statewide and throughout the Delaware Valley." 

Milford Branch Director Kate Inie-Richards says, "I'm honored to welcome these six new faculty members to our Milford branch. Their dedication to teaching, pedagogy and performance allows us to continue growing our music offerings for Kent and Sussex County residents."

The new faculty include:

Melinda Bowman (flute, Suzuki flute and groups, Early Childhood music, Woodwind Chamber Ensemble). Bowman has a bachelors degree in flute performance and a bachelors degree in choral education from the University of Delaware. She has registered Suzuki training: Flute Units 1-5 and is a member of the Suzuki Association of the Americas. Bowman is also trained in Kindermusik and Musikgarten.

J. Andrew Dickenson (guitar). Dickenson has a bachelors degree in guitar performance from the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University and an masters degree in guitar performance from Mannes College of Music. Dickenson is the performing arts coordinator and professor of music at Cecil College, North East, Md.

Matthew Genders (cello). Genders has a bachelors degree from Temple University and a masters degree from the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University. Genders also teaches at the Darlington Arts Center and the Haddonfield School of Music.

Dr. Patrick Hoffman (trumpet). Hoffman has a bachelors degree from the University of Illinois, a masters degree from the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University and a doctor of musical arts degree from the University of Georgia, Athens. An associate professor of music in applied trumpet and the director of bass ensembles at Delaware State University, Hoffman has also taught at Minot State University, North Dakota.

Sara Hoffman (horn). Hoffman has a bachelors degree in horn performance from the University of Georgia and a masters degree in horn performance from Yale University. She has taught at Delaware State University, New York Summer Music Festival, Minot State University and Yale University.

Joanne Ward (vocal/choral department head, class voice, Delaware Women's Chorus). Ward has a bachelor in music education from Montclair State College and a masters degree in voice from West Chester University. She has extensive training in the Orff-Schulwerk methodology.
