Changes are afoot in Rehoboth Beach’s administrative offices as one longtime employee retires and two new ones come in.

After 33 years, billing administrative assistant Janette Clavette announced her retirement effective April 1.

“Janette has been the mainstay of the city’s government for over 30 years. She has been a devoted, energetic and selfless employee who always greeted the public with a friendly and helpful demeanor. Janette will be sorely missed by all,” said City Manager Sharon Lynn.

Clavette moved to southern Delaware fulltime in 1978 and went to work for the city on a part-time basis in 1984. In retirement, she said she is looking forward to spending time with her six grandchildren, practicing yoga and taking classes at the Rehoboth Art League.

“I’ve enjoyed working here, and I’m looking forward to the adventures in this next phase of life,” Clavette said.

To replace her, the city has hired Jean Lee, effective March 20. Lee spent 14 years in the U.S. Coast Guard before moving to Delaware in 2015. She worked as an administrative assistant at Beebe Heathcare and then as a part-time receptionist for the city before moving to full-time work.

Also hired was Vicky Hatton as an accounting supervisor. Hatton previously worked in finance at AstraZeneca in Wilmington and has an MBA from Wilmington University. In 2014, Hatton relocated from Wilmington to Millsboro with her husband and two children.

“Both Vicky and Jean’s familiarity with accounting and passion for public finance will bring quality and capabilities to these positions with the city. I look forward, along with city staff, to working together to improve the financial processes and support the city through this exciting time of growth,” Lynn said.
