New H.O. Brittingham Elementary ahead of schedule

'Really cranking out there'
October 19, 2017

Steel bars, sheetrock and ductwork are flying at the new H.O. Brittingham Elementary construction site in Milton.

“I think we're at least two months ahead of where we were at this time with Love Creek,” said Dean Johnson, construction manager for Richard Y. Johnson and Son, the company building the new school.

The building is up and the roof is just about finished, he said.

“They are really cranking out there,” said Johnson during a Sept. 28 school board meeting.

The cafeteria is 85 percent finished and all outside walls are done, he said. Ductwork is being installed throughout the structure and interior walls are going up. All the walls are up in the two-story section of the building, which will house third- and fourth-graders, Johnson said, and all electrical and mechanical lines have been roughed in.

By mid-October, Johnson said, he expects sheetrock will be hung for the interior walls.

“Things are really flying out there,” he said.
