New local radio station on air at 99.1FM

December 16, 2017

Southern Delaware has a new community information radio station, WWSX on-air at 99.1FM, and online at www.RadioRehoboth.com.

From Lewes and Rehoboth Beach to Dewey Beach and surrounding areas, the nonprofit radio station will provide news, events and entertainment for visitors and residents, supporting local businesses and communities.

Radio Rehoboth will partner with town, county and state officials to broadcast important, up-to-the-minute information and activities. With the goal of a more prosperous neighborhood economy, the station will partner with businesses and restaurants to promote events including live broadcasting.

The station's management includes a team of experienced media and marketing professionals including broadcasting pioneer and Emmy-award-winning executive producer and director Tom Dooley, local business owners Jeff Balk of Snyder's Candy and David Forman of Visiting Angels. Balk and Forman both have extensive marketing experience. Balk has owned regional and national media sales companies, and Forman has a New York City-based public relations and marketing company with corporate clients.

Balk said, "The very local nature of Radio Rehoboth and the immediacy of relevant content will be great for tourism. Streaming content at radiorehoboth.com will allow people to tune in from anywhere in advance of visits to our beach resorts; and be accessible to all fans from anywhere from their mobile devices."

Forman said, "Retail business, restaurants and bars will reach an extremely targeted audience of consumers just as they are actively looking for shopping, dining and entertainment. Other businesses and organizations will benefit from joining a large community of local and visiting listeners in tune to what's happening throughout Southern Delaware."

WWSX99.1FM is now broadcasting holiday music, helpful holiday tips and local events from its Rehoboth Beach studios. Sunday morning programming will feature sermons from local churches, and leading national speakers. After the New Year, listeners can expect entertaining programming and reports from professional organizations, chambers of commerce, transportation services, parks and recreation officials, boating, fishing, water sports, restaurants and nightlife businesses.

Broadcasting from the top of its Rehoboth Studios, the station now reaches Southern Delaware beach communities from Lewes to Dewey Beach, with plans to move its transmitter to a higher tower on Route 1 which will greatly extend its already impressive coverage area to include coastal towns further south and additional surrounding areas. To meet this objective and to cover general operating expenses, Radio Rehoboth 99.1 FM is actively seeking title and programming sponsors. The company is confident that all of its underwriters will benefit from affiliation with the local station with measurable results in new business and client retention. Underwriting of nonprofit public radio is unique in that support dollars are tax deductible as a donation.

Radio Rehoboth also offers membership to the public. Tax-deductible gift donations will help support the community and members will receive logo merchandise gifts, and invitations to networking events and parties.

Radio Rehoboth studios are located just before the circle in Rehoboth Beach, at 37290 Rehoboth Avenue, Ext., and will be open to the public this spring with visitor information and discount coupons to local businesses.

To become a business sponsor, call the studio at 302-401-9991 or contact Jeff Balk at 302-510-9000, or David Forman at 973-477-7489. To become a member go to www.radiorehoboth.com.
