No challengers in Milton election

There will not be an election in Milton this year, as incumbents Charlie Fleetwood and George Kevin Kelly were the only candidates to file for two seats. Both men will be sworn in for new terms Monday, April 2. For more information, call Milton Town Hall at 302-684-4110.

37th District Dems to meet Jan. 8

Donna Dolce, chair of the 37th District Democratic Party Committee, announced the committee meetings will move to the new Party Headquarters at 10 East Pine St. in Georgetown. Georgetown is in the 37th District. The next meeting of the Committee is Monday, Jan. 8 at 7 p.m.

All Democrats in the 37th District are welcome and urged to come to the meeting. Top of the agenda is selecting a Democratic candidate or candidates to run for the 37th District representative seat in November. The committee formerly met at Captain's Pizza in Long Neck.

Lewes council to meet Jan. 8

Lewes Mayor and City Council will meet at 7 p.m., Monday, Jan. 8, at city hall.

The group will consider a rezoning request from Ocean Atlantic Companies and Vantage Point Retirement Living LLC to change 7.11 acres from residential to limited commercial and 9.34 acres from residential to community facilities health care for a subdivided parcel of land between Kings Highway and Savannah Road.

Council will also reconsider action taken in December regarding the future of the railroad tracks in Lewes.

Council voted to preserve a small section near the Lewes Public Library. Officials will consider an amendment to city code related to review of site development plans, receive an interim report for the Donovan Smith mobile home park annexation request, schedule a public hearing for the rezoning request for the Lewes Ice House and consider amending the Historic Lewes Scenic Byway's corridor management plan.
