Lewes bike and ped meets June 13
The Lewes Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee will meet at 7 p.m., Wednesday, June 13, at city hall. The group will discuss 2018 goals, distribution of of brochures, and discuss a "Walk your bike" stencil marking. For more information, call city hall at 302-645-7777.

Lewes consolidation committee set June 14
The committee tasked with consolidating the historic preservation commission and the commercial architectural review commission will meet at 1 p.m., Thursday, June 14, at city hall. The group will discuss the development of an ordinance to establish a new commission with regulations from both commissions. For more information, call city hall at 302-645-7777.

Dewey council reaffirms town prosecutor
Dewey Town Council voted to reaffirm John F. Brady as town prosecutor and legal representative regarding Dewey Beach Police Department matters at its monthly meeting June 8. Brady has served the town since 2006.

Sussex P&Z meeting set on June 14
Sussex County Planning and Zoning Commission will meet at 6 p.m., Thursday, June 14, in the county administration building, 2 The Circle, Georgetown. Included on the agenda are reviews of several site plans including ones for Nanticoke Indian Association, Pelican Landing, Delaware State Police Troop 7 and Southern Delaware Therapeutic and Recreational Horseback Riding Inc. Mitchell joins 35th RD race
Republican Robert Mitchell has filed his paperwork June 1 to run for office in the 35th Representative District race. He is the second person to file for the seat. Republican Jesse Vanderwende filed his paperwork in February. The district is currently represented by Republican Dave Wilson, but he is not seeking re-election. Instead, Wilson is running for the soon-to-be vacant 18th Senatorial District. The senatorial seat's current office holder, Republican Gary Simpson, announced in February he would not seek re-election.

The 35th Representative District covers the northwest corner of Sussex County and includes all or parts of Bridgeville, Greenwood, Ellendale and Georgetown. No Democrat has filed for the seat. The deadline for candidates to file for a statewide office and all other offices is noon, Tuesday, July 10.
