Cape Henlopen school board meets July 27
The Cape Henlopen school board will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 27, in the cafeteria of Mariner Middle School. The board will discuss the fiscal year 2018 budget, the Spanish Immersion Program and also major capital projects.

Dewey Audit Committee to meet
The Dewey Beach Audit Committee has scheduled a meeting for 10 a.m., Friday, July 28, in the Dewey Beach Life Saving Station, 1 Dagsworthy Ave. The agenda calls for a review of the draft version of the town's audited financial statements for Fiscal Year 2017, which ended March 31. There will also be an unaudited year-to-date review of Fiscal Year 2018.

Dewey board sets agenda for Aug. 2
The Dewey Beach Board of Adjustment has scheduled a meeting for 6 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 2, in the Dewey Beach Life Saving Station, 1 Dagsworthy Ave. The appellant at 26 Van Dyke Street, Unit D, has requested a variance from the requirement of a minimum number of off-street parking spaces for a residential property. The property is zoned Resort Residential.

DelDOT drawbridge workshop July 25
The Department of Transportation will host a workshop from 4 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, July 25, at Cape Henlopen High School to discuss a planned project to upgrade the drawbridges in Lewes and Rehoboth Beach. The $7 million project is slated to begin next summer and last more than a year. Detours and lane closures will only be allowed overnight, except in the case of the delivery of materials. The public is encouraged to attend the meeting to learn more about the project. Interested persons are invited to express their views in writing. Lewes Board of Public Works meeting July 26
The Lewes Board of Public Works will meet at 4 p.m., Wednesday, July 26, at city hall. The group will discuss the 2016-17 financial audit report from PKS & Company, while also receiving a presentation on the infrastructure project at Savannah Road, Gills Neck Road and Front Street. The board will also discuss the recently installed electric vehicle charging stations and the possibility of adding fiber internet to the city. Lewes scenic byways set to meet July 26
The Historic Lewes Byways Ad Hoc Committee will meet at 1 p.m., Wednesday, July 26, at city hall. The group will discuss the proposed Transportation Alternatives Program project on Savannah Road, the proposed Transportation Improvement District, the camera pole at Savannah Road and Front Street and Sussex County's sign ordinance. Lewes annexation committee meets July 26
The Lewes Annexation Regulation Review Committee will meet at 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 26, at city hall. The group will receive updates about discussions with owners about possible annexation and also discuss a possible alternative zoning for newly annexed land. Milton board sets agenda for July 25

Milton Sustainability Committee to meet
Milton Sustainability Committee will meet at 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 25, at the Milton library. The committee will include a discussion on well water with Milton Public Works Supervisor Greg Wingo, outreach activities, upcoming events and updates to a planning grant. Sussex council awards nonprofit grants
Sussex County Council awarded the following councilmanic grants during its July 18 meeting: $2,000 to Friends of Milford Museum to supports its annual fundraising campaign; $2,000 to Historic Georgetown Association for improvements to Georgetown's first fire house; $6,000 to Georgetown Historical Society for improvements to the Nutter Marvel Museum stable building; $1,000 to CHEER Inc. for its Saturday, Aug. 5, car, truck and bike show; $500 to Town of Blades for its annual Police Department's National Night Out; and $2,000 to Autism Delaware for the Blue Jean Ball fundraiser.
