Mountaire seeks sludge storage permit
State environmental officials are accepting public comments on Mountaire Farms' application for a short-term sludge storage facility at the company's chicken-processing plant in Millsboro. A public hearing will not be held unless the secretary of the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control determines a hearing is in the public's interest, or if a written objection with merit is received by 4:30 p.m., Monday, Dec. 4. Dewey Town Hall closed Nov. 23, 24
In recognition of Thanksgiving, Dewey Beach Town Hall will be closed Thursday, Nov. 23, and Friday, Nov. 24. Normal business hours, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., will resume Monday, Nov. 27. For more information call 227-6363.

Dewey accepting landscaping bids
Dewey Beach is requesting bids for landscaping and ground maintenance services. Areas of service include the median of Coastal Highway from Clayton Street south to Collins Avenue, islands between Houston and St. Louis streets, and the flower beds at town hall on Rodney Avenue, town annex building on Route 1 and the life saving station on Dagsworthy Avenue.

The initial contract runs from February 2018 through November 2018, but allows for two 1-year extensions. The deadline for bid submission is the close of business Friday, Dec. 8. Final selection of the contractor will be made by town council. Sip and Shop in Dewey Nov. 24, 25
The 3rd annual Dewey Beach Holiday Sip and Shop will be taking place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday, Nov. 24, and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 25, in the parking lot of The Starboard, 2009 Coastal Highway, Dewey Beach.

Milton supports clean water, appropriate use
Milton officials recently adopted a resolution encouraging clean water and appropriately regulated land use. The resolution recognizes the importance of clean water for the economy, environment and public health, and states the town is opposed to land-use activities that could contaminate aquifers.

The resolution also voices support for the state Clean Water and Flood Abatement Task Force's recommendation to establish a dedicated fund for clean water projects. The task force has proposed instituting a $40 income tax surcharge and an additional fee on business licenses to raise an estimated $20 million annually. Cave Neck Road work workshop scheduled
The Delaware Department of Transportation will have a public workshop for public input on short-term improvements at the intersections of Cave Neck, Hudson and Sweetbriar roads. The workshop will take place from 4 to 7 p.m., Monday, Dec. 4, at Mariner Middle School cafeteria, 16391 Harbeson Road, Milton. The public is invited to attend any time during the workshop.

The purpose of the improvements is to improve traffic operations and safety at the intersections by reducing driver confusion and conflict points.
Attendees will have an opportunity to review the traffic information and proposed improvements, and provide comments to DelDOT representatives. Comments will be accepted in writing at the workshop or can be mailed to DelDOT Community Relations, PO Box 778, Dover, DE 19903 or sent to dotpr@state.de.us.

Inland Bays advisory committee meets Dec. 1
The Delaware Center for the Inland Bays Science and Technical Advisory Committee will meet from 9 a.m. to noon, Friday, Dec. 1, at the DNREC Lewes field office at the end of Pilottown Road in Lewes. Topics include developing educational programs to help homeowners protect the bays and information related to a survey of submerged aquatic vegetation in the Delaware estuary.
