Police are searching for a suspect wanted after an early morning home invasion in Ellendale Aug. 11.

Troopers were called to the 13000 block of South Old State Road about 3:30 a.m. for the break-in. A man wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt reportedly knocked on the door and asked to use the phone. When the homeowners denied his request, the suspect went to another door and forced his way inside, said Master Cpl. Gary Fournier of Delaware State Police.

The suspect then pulled out a knife and told four people in the home to get on the floor and give him their money. Within a few minutes, the suspect fled the house without any money or other items. Fournier said he fled after seeing one of the occupants on a cellphone.

No one was injured, Fournier said.

The male suspect is between 5-feet-5-inches and 5-feet-7-inches tall, weighs 150 to 160 pounds and was wearing dark clothing, including a black mask, dark jeans and had a kitchen-style knife.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective T. Williams-Snipes at 302-752-3897 or Delaware Crime Stoppers at 800-TIP-3333. Information also can be shared online at www.delaware.crimestoppersweb.com.
