No more bloopers!

January 4, 2018

I used to start the new year with my bloopers from the past year, but there were sooo many with the new system I have been working on that I decided to let it be a thing of the past. Besides, the Eagles were a blooper in their own right with the poor showing at last week's game. There was no excuse for them to not have another win!

Because the Eagles are the number one NFC seed in the playoffs, they will have this week off. To finish out the regular season, they lost an ugly game to the Dallas Cowboys by the score of 6-0. During this off week, the coaches can hopefully wake the team up! They need to stop feeling sorry for themselves about Carson Wentz not been able to play. If they don't, they will be out of the playoffs very early.

Next week, they will play one of three teams. The possibilities are the Atlanta Falcons, the New Orleans Saints, or the Carolina Panthers. My preference is that they play the Carolina Panthers since they have already beaten them this year. It might be of some much needed help to keep them in the playoffs!

The college football national championship game is between Georgia and Alabama. This should be an extremely close game. These two teams have been the most consistent throughout the season. This will probably be a low-scoring game because both their defenses are the strongest parts of the two teams.

In the first semi-final, Georgia beat Oklahoma 51 to 48 in the first overtime game in the history of The Rose Bowl. In the second game, Alabama beat Clemson 24 to 6. The Alabama defense was so dominant in that game that it was fun to watch even with a rather lopsided score.

I was able to attend both Cape basketball games during the Slam Dunk tournament. Cape played Caravel in the very last game of the event. Caravel was a state championship finalist last year. The Cape Vikings played with very high energy in the second half to complete a comeback and win by 15. Ian Robertson scored a career high 37 points and it seemed like he had almost as many rebounds. Look for good things from this team as the season progresses into January and February.
