October art classes for adults set at Mispillion Art League
Mispillion Art League in Milford has announced its October classes for adults.
Watercolors with Jean Masetti will meet from 1 to 3 p.m., Mondays, Oct. 3, 10, 17, 24, Nov. 7 and 21. Novice and intermediate artists ages 16 and up will learn about watercolors and how to balance pigment, water and paper to let the transparency of color and light create a mood. Supply list given at registration. Cost is $130 members, $150 nonmembers.
Painting Miniatures in Watercolor with Geri Gaskill is set for 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 5. Attendees will learn to create watercolor paintings on small spaces. Compositions will be 2-by-3-inches or similar. Cost is $35 for members, $45 for nonmembers.
Plein Air Workshop with Joe Terrone is set 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 6 and Friday, Oct. 7. This class is geared toward demystifying plein air (outdoor) painting. Students will learn the basic skills of painting en plein air and how to deal with changing light, wind, bugs and more. Class will begin inside and then move outdoors where students will get private direction in setting up, blocking in and completing work. Cost is $110 for members and $125 for nonmembers.
Stained Glass Cooperative Workshop with Carol Yost will meet from 1 to 4 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 8. In this introductory class for making a stained glass window ornament using the copper foil technique, participants will make a portion of an ornament that will be placed for sale in the MAL Gallery during the Perfect Gifts exhibit. Due to limited tools, each student will not take home an individually completed project. If students wish to continue to learn about this hobby, they will be given information about ways to continue to pursue stained glass skills. Attendees will be working with sharp glass and hot solder and soldering irons, so cuts and burns are possible. Cost is $30 for members and $35 for nonmembers.
Figure Drawing, a free workshop, is set for 6:30 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 6. Session is open to all levels of experience. A live (clothed) model will be present. Bring a sketch book and favorite medium (pencils, charcoal, pastels). An experienced figure artist will lead each session. A $5 donation for the artist is suggested.
Intermediate Oil Painting with Linda Steere is set for 1 to 3 p.m., Thursdays, Oct. 20, 27, Nov. 3, 10, 17 and Dec. 1. This class is designed for students who wish to develop their skills beyond the beginner level. Participants will refine the fundamentals: composition, perspective, drawing, color, paint application, value, sense of depth, color harmony and the color wheel. There will be plenty of one-on-one guidance. Supply list will be given upon registration. Cost is $130 for members and $150 for nonmembers.
