Oktoberfest at Milton Farmers Market to feature Dogfish beer Oct. 7

September 26, 2016

The Milton Farmers Market brings the Fifth Annual Oktoberfest to the parking lot at Dogfish Head Brewery from 3 to 6 p.m.,  Friday, Oct. 7. This celebration of fall features Dogfish Head Punkin Ale on tap, over 20 sellers offering seasonal foods and products, plus lively live music from 8 Track Trio.

Over at the Baywater Greens tent, shoppers can select hydroponic salad greens and several heirloom non-GMO radishes, including watermelon and Easter Egg varieties. Other heirloom vegetables available include spaghetti squash, butternut squash and red or black curry Kabocha fall squash.

T.S. Smith will bring freshly harvested greens such as kale and collards, and small pumpkins from their farm, plus four varieties of crisp, flavorful apples grown in their orchards. Just-picked Red and Golden Delicious, Fuji and Jonagold apples will tempt passers-by.

At the Savory Suppers and Sides tent, Chef Marissa will offer freshly prepared German Beef Goulash served over egg noodles, as well as made-from-scratch potato pancakes and Drunken Cheddar Soup. She’ll have a list of menu items available to order for the Thanksgiving table.

TA Farms will also have information for pre-ordering a holiday turkey, as well as bringing freshly made sweet Italian sausage, cheddar brauts, hot pepper cheese sausage and English bangers.

Market visitors will find a huge assortment of Pappardelle’s specialty goods at Captain Kirk’s Gourmet Galley with over 150 delectable varieties of gourmet gluten-based and gluten-free pasta, ravioli, gnocchi, sauces and pesto. Their Autumn Harvest Orzo is flavored with sage, pumpkin and chestnut or sweet potato flavor-infused pasta. Each item comes with recipes.

The bakers’ tents are brimming with special Oktoberfest creations. At Nana’s Delights, market patrons can select scrumptious apple dumplings, and just-baked pumpkin pie and pecan pie, offering each as single-serve treats to enjoy on site or take home. Pasqualini’s will sell whole pies to go in a wide range of flavors, as well as pumpkin-pecan strudel, pumpkin bread, and special apple pastries. La Bella Farm brings homemade marshmallows to Oktoberfest, plus pumpkin chocolate chip cupcakes, pumpkin whoopee pies and personal pecan pies.

Blotto Gelato's alcohol-infused frosty treats will include Drunken Pumpkin Gelato with Spiced Rum, as well as a yet-undisclosed new flavor to be debuted at the market.

Seasonal touches provide inspiration even at the Heatherscents tent, where the newest addition to their line of luxury bath products is Spiced Amber Ale handcrafted soap.

Backyard Jams and Jellies brings homemade pumpkin butter, spiced apple jelly, spiced chutney and spiced cranberry relish along with a full line of dozens of offerings to make a glaze for the wild-caught salmon available at the Alaska Wild tent or add a dollop to shucked oysters from Chinky’s Oysters.

Dogfish Head Punkin Ale is on tap for patrons to enjoy as they stroll the market tents or settle in to enjoy the tunes. This week’s live music comes from 8 Track Trio, a dynamic three-piece band that focuses on great songs from the rock ‘n’ roll era with three-part vocal harmonies. Shaded picnic tables are available near the performance area for market patrons.

This last weekly Milton Farmers Market provides a perfect opportunity to stock up for the months ahead, with everything visitors need for fresh and wholesome meals. The Second Annual Harvest Market will be held in Friday, Nov. 18, before Thanksgiving. Free parking is available in the huge adjoining parking lot. As always, friendly dogs on leashes are welcome.
