Orville Pierce ‘Houch’ Houchard, electronics technician

March 9, 2017

Orville Pierce "Houch" Houchard was given the gift of life, and now he has given it back. We were lucky to have him in our lives and we are grateful for the time that we shared with him. Orville Pierce Houchard (Houch) passed away peacefully Thursday, March 2, 2017, at his home in Georgetown, with his loving wife, Louise by his side.

Pierce was born Sept. 25, 1928, in St. Petersburg, Fla. He graduated from St. Petersburg High School in May 1946. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy where he served from 1946-49, and was awarded the World War II Victory Medal.

He was married to Jean P. Houchard for 47 years, who preceded him in death. Pierce is survived by their two children: Cortlandt (Corky) Houchard and wife Kathy, and Connie Houchard and partner Raymond Payne. He is also survived by four grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Before retiring, he worked at JC Penney as an electronics technician. He also worked at Greybar Electronics.

He retired to White House Beach, Long Neck, to enjoy life on the water with his pontoon boat. He loved crabbing, clamming and fishing. It was here that Pierce got a second chance at love and life when he met Louise Enright and they married December 31, 1999, and lived happily in Georgetown. He is also survived by Louise and her three children: Lori Jones and husband Ron, Traci Humphries and husband Ed, and Andy Enright and wife Laura, as well as seven grandchildren. He loved his extended family like his own .

Pierce was a lifetime member of American Legion Post 28 in Millsboro. He was also a member of Conley's United Methodist Church, where he volunteered weekly, providing technical and audio support for their ministries.

He was fondly known for his ability to fix anything and having any tool for any job! He will be remembered most for his kind and gentle nature, and dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

The family would like to thank everyone for their cards, phone calls, thoughts and prayers during Pierce's thankfully short illness. To sign the online guest book please visit: corleto Latina Funeral Home & Crematory at www.corletolatinafuneralhome.com.
