The grand reopening party and auction, Keep Our Beacon Bright, will be held at the Virden Center from 6 to 9 p.m., Friday, May 26. The party is a celebration of the return of summer with great food, music and hundreds of auction items. Tickets are $50 and will be on sale beginning Saturday, April 8. The Lightship Overfalls, a National Historic Landmark, is one of just eight remaining floating lighthouses open to the public as a museum. Funds raised at these events help to preserve and maintain the Lightship Overfalls in Canalfront Park, and support the educational activities of the newly expanded American Lightship Museum.
