Painting fundraiser to benefit Delaware River & Bay Lighthouse Foundation Sept. 27

September 13, 2017

Painting with a Twist, an art and social studio in Lewes, will host a Painting with a Purpose charity event at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 27, to benefit the Delaware River & Bay Lighthouse Foundation.

The event will include a two-hour class featuring an original painting titled “Harbor of Refuge at Sunset,” created by local Lewes artist Kim Hanna. No painting experience is needed, and the event will include complimentary wine, beer and light-fare food. To sign up, go to paintingwithatwist.com/lewes/calendar or call the studio at 302-313-5769.

Each month, franchisees from across the nation hold painting fundraisers through the Painting with a Purpose program to benefit local charities. For this event, 50 percent of the proceeds will be donated to the Delaware River & Bay Lighthouse Foundation. Collectively, the Painting with a Twist system has donated more than $3.8 million through local Painting with a Purpose events.

"We're honored to partner with DRBLHF to raise funds for the restoration and maintenance of this historic landmark," said John Peterson, owner of Painting with a Twist - Lewes. "Community involvement is of utmost importance to us. We are thrilled to be helping DRBLHF foster maritime education and cultural enrichment."

The foundation is an all-volunteer organization that serves as the caretaker for the Harbor of Refuge Lighthouse, one of Delaware's nine remaining historic lighthouses. For more information, go to delawarebaylights.org.
