Pamela H. Burgard, community volunteer
Pamela H. Burgard, 64, of Ocean View, passed away after her long struggle with cancer Saturday, Oct. 7, 2017. She was born in Harford County, Md., Dec. 23, 1952, and was the daughter of Cooper M. Edwards and Shirley (Monk) Edwards.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Phillip Edwards and Peyton Edwards; and a sister, Patricia Keene. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Dennis Burgard; her son Brent Burgard and wife LeAnn Burgard; her daughter Susan Sadler and her husband Jason Sadler; and five grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Peggy Thomas and Polly Bauer; and two brothers, Paul Edwards and Perry Edwards.
Pamela was an active member of American Legion Post 24 in Dagsboro. She spent many years volunteering at various organizations. Her pastimes included gardening, knitting and traveling.
A celebration of life has been scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 25, at the Ocean View Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 38040 Muddy Neck Road, Ocean View. Visitation will begin from 11 a.m. to noon, with services to directly follow.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Tunnell Cancer Center, 18947 John J. Williams Highway, Suite 101, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971, or Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
