Panetta will serve City of Lewes well

May 11, 2018

We endorse and urge voters to elect Tom Panetta to the Lewes Board of Public Works. We believe he is uniquely qualified to become a member of the BPW board.

Tom has over 30 years of experience with power generation and transmission as an engineer and senior manager for General Electric Power. During that time, he oversaw the design, construction, and operation of power plants and also worked on power transmission and distribution systems. In each assignment, he was accountable both for its functional and its financial success. His experience is directly relevant to the work of the BPW and we believe that Lewes would greatly benefit from his skills and proven leadership.

While living in Lewes for the past 10 years, Tom has become increasingly involved in community activities. He is a leader of the Lewes Planning Commission where he has undertaken a key role in reaching out to residents and businesses about protecting the future of Lewes. He has been a volunteer in the community, including for Coastal Concerts. His community involvement before Lewes included founding and chairing an historic architectural board in Pennsylvania.

As the city and the BPW face challenges in the future like providing service to newly annexed areas, managing stormwater runoff, maintenance of the existing infrastructure and anticipating sea level rise, Tom Panetta is someone who will serve us well on the BPW. He has our vote and hopefully yours, too.
