Parker Group announces 2018 #givelocal partnership with Habitat

April 1, 2018

The difference between the median home price in an area and what most people can afford is called a home affordability gap. In Sussex County, the home affordability gap amount is $212,074. Due to several market factors, there is a shortage of decent, affordable housing inventory in the area. Solving this issue will take a mammoth effort from the nonprofit, public and private sectors.

As a locally owned real estate team, The Parker Group sees the need for more affordable homes every day and agrees with Habitat for Humanity’s fundamental belief that everyone deserves a decent place to live. In an effort to do its part, The Parker Group announced that its #givelocal partner for 2018 will be Sussex County Habitat for Humanity.

Throughout the year, The Parker Group will donate a portion of the proceeds from every home sold to Habitat. Parker Group team members also will spend time volunteering on new construction and neighborhood revitalization sites, and promoting Habitat’s mission. Team members are excited to give back to the community they love through the industry in which they serve. They will be posting updates of the #givelocal partnership throughout the year.

Founded in 1991, Sussex County Habitat for Humanity has matured into a trustworthy, reliable, and productive affordable home builder. Sussex Habitat has sold 133 homes and repaired 108 homes, improving the lives of 241 local families. Currently, they have home construction and rehab projects underway in West Rehoboth, Milton, Ellendale, Seaford and Laurel. They are partnering in major neighborhood revitalization initiatives in Laurel and Seaford. Further, they have launched a financial coaching partnership with $tand by Me, serving more than 200 families annually.
