Patricia ‘Patti’ Ann Barney, legal administrator

Patricia "Patti" Ann Barney, 75, of Lewes, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2017, at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes. She was born Sunday, March 9, 1941, in Woodbury, N.J., daughter of the late Charles and Helen (Harrington) Hegman.

Mrs. Barney graduated from Dover High School Class of 1959. She worked as a legal administrator for over 40 years, starting her career at DNREC, the law office of William and Draper, and most recently for Parkowski, Noble and Guerke where she worked for 28 years, retiring in 2003.

Mrs. Barney enjoyed dancing, floral design, decorating, gardening and going to the beach in her spare time. She was a member of the Big Band Society club and she liked to participate in the Delaware Hospice Festival of Trees.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Barney was preceded in death by her husband, F. William Barney in 2013. She is survived by her daughters, Dawn Gunning (Kevin) of Milford, Lori McAroy (Frank) with whom she resided of Lewes, and Tricia Lodge (Doug) of Milton; her son, Brooke Barney (Kate) of Newark; her grandchildren: Holly and Julie Gunning, Trey and Sundene Lodge, and Lilly McAroy; her brothers, Doug Hegman of Little Creek and Rodney Hegman of Smyrna; her sister, Connie Reid of Milton; and her aunt, Gloria Cregar of Camden.

Memorial Service will be held Monday, Feb. 13, at 11 a.m., at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, where friends may visit beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will be private.
