Patricia E. Stokes, retired secretary

Patricia E. Stokes, 69, of Frankford, formerly of Edgewater, Md., passed away Friday, June 23, 2017, at her home.

Pat was born in New Eagle, Pa., Feb. 4, 1948, daughter of the late Bennie Ulysses Kuosman and the late Veino Sylvia (Wilsman) Kuosman. She held several secretarial positions in her career before becoming self-employed and owned Pat's P.C. until her health declined in 2016.

Pat loved living near the beach and enjoyed golfing, dancing and studying genealogy. She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Ocean City, Md., a member of Mason Dixon VFW Post 7234 Ladies Auxiliary in Ocean View, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Sussex Aerie 4528 in Ocean View.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Maxwell Stokes in 1998; and her brother, Richard Kuosman. She is survived by a son, Edward Shinn of Glen Burnie, Md.; two daughters, Deborah Gillis and her husband Robert of Glen Burnie, and Elizabeth Shinn of Southlake, Texas; four stepdaughters, Stacy Rocko and her husband Edward of Severn, Md., Hilary Seaton and her husband Michael, Karen Stokes of Lothian, Md., and Diana Clark and her husband Wayne of Queenstown, Md. Pat is also survived by a grandson, Nolan Shinn-Bowen; five stepgrandchildren, Brooke Rocko, Kyle Rocko, Alexis Seaton, Anna Phipps and Donald Clark; and two great-stepgrandchildren, Makenna and Rayvon Logan.

A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, June 27, at the Ocean View Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 38040 Muddy Neck Road, Ocean View. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m., Wednesday, June 28, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 10301 Coastal Hwy., Ocean City, with a reception to follow at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 4528 in Ocean View. A private interment will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Cemetery in Annapolis, Md.
