Paul A. Pusey Sr., decorated WWII veteran

Paul A. Pusey Sr., 93, of Georgetown passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, Wednesday, June 6, 2018.

Paul was born in Millsboro, son of the late Harry A. and Rittie E. (Atkins) Pusey.

He retired from Bell Atlantic (now Verizon) in 1983, having worked as a managing associate and in the engineering department. As a retiree, Paul had been an active member of the Telephone Pioneers, serving the community as well as repairing talking books.

Paul was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He served in Germany with the 76th Division, and was awarded Bronze Star for Infantry, and a Purple Heart for being wounded during combat twice in one day. He was a proud veteran and was an active member of VFW Post 6444, American Legion Post 8, both in Georgetown, as well as the Military Order of the Purple Heart in Millsboro.

He was also an active member of Georgetown Presbyterian Church.

In addition to his parents, Paul is preceded in death by his siblings, Ray Pusey, Fay Jaroszewski and Joan Powell.

He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Helen Jane (Turner) Pusey; four children, JoAnne Lank and husband John of Harbeson, Rebecca Ramsberger and husband Charles of Orland, Maine, Paul A. Pusey Jr. and spouse Bill Glazerman of Sierra Vista, Ariz., and Kathy Bailey of Millsboro, and a son-in-law, Michael Bailey of Laurel; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, June 12, in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown, with visitation from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Burial will immediately follow in Union Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes contributions in Paul's memory to Fisher House, 116 Purple Heart Drive, Dover Air Force Base, Dover, DE 19902.
