Pauline Timmons Sullivan, never met a stranger

November 30, 2016

Pauline Timmons Sullivan, 93, of Milford, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, Nov. 27, 2016, after a brief illness.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Lawson Jump Sullivan, in 1992; her brothers, Francis Timmons and Raymond Timmons Sr.; sister, Dorothy Timmons Jones; and her parents, William Edward Timmons and Nellie Downs Timmons Wertz.

She is survived by her children, Joseph F., Deborah R., and Lawson Jay Sullivan; and devoted niece, nephews, and cousins.

Pauline was a graduate of Lewes High School, was recruited by Goldey-Beacom College, and traveled and sang with a Country Western group, performing on WSNJ radio in Bridgeton, N.J. Her work history included Milford Powder Plant during World War II, Seaford DuPont Plant and waitressing before starting her family. She worked for several years at Jester's Store. She never met a stranger, and was affectionately referred to as "Milford's Mayor" because she was so well known and liked in her community.

Pauline was devoted to her children and committed to family and friends. Many considered it a blessing to sit at her table and receive bounty from her garden. She was determined that no one leave her home without the opportunity of a delicious meal. Pauline represented Delaware in the Senior Range Division and was crowned the 1968 National Chicken Cooking Champion.

Graveside services will be conducted by Pastor Allen Miller at noon, Friday, Dec. 2, at Milford Community Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Community Church of Oak Orchard, 32615 Oak Orchard Road, Millsboro. Tributes to Pauline may be written at website address: "www.findagrave.com Memorial #80710575 ".
