Plantation Lakes supports breast cancer coalition

November 16, 2017

The Plantation Lakes community of Millsboro went above and beyond the call of duty for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. For the second year in a row, they held a bake sale and 5K Oct. 14 to support the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition. Proceeds from the walk/run, bake sale, ice cream sale, raffles and merchandise sales totaled $4,750 to support local breast cancer programs and services.

Plantation Lakes arranged a breast cancer golf tournament Oct. 18. The organizer was Chris O'Halloran with the help of the Plantation Lakes Golf Professionals Brian Fedish and Ian Madinger. A total of 67 golfers participated, and $3,000 was raised for the cause.

All proceeds will be used to expand the coalition’s local programs which increase breast cancer awareness, promote the importance of early detection, provide access to mammograms, and provide support and resources to women and men who have been diagnosed with or are facing a recurrence of breast cancer.
