Poppy Month a success for American Legion Post 17 Ladies Auxiliary

June 14, 2018

Throughout the month of May, the American Legion Post 17 Ladies Auxiliary distributed poppies in honor and memory of veterans.

The members extend their appreciation to Best Ace Hardware stores of Lewes and Milton, Ocean Grill at Five Points, Acme Market of Rehoboth Beach and Dollar Tree in Midway for consenting to have poppy stations outside their establishments. Unit 17 members commend the Cape Henlopen High School JROTC cadets and their instructors for the commitment and dedication to volunteer with the auxiliary each Saturday.

The auxiliary members thank the hundreds of folks in the community who made generous donations to this fundraiser. Most importantly, they extend gratitude to  veterans, and the men and women who are currently serving this country.

All contributions received for poppies are used to support veteran and active military needs such as Delaware Veterans Stand Down, Wreaths Across America, Milford Veterans Home, Milford Home of the Brave I and II, and supply packages for military members serving overseas.
