Ralph Archabald DeLoy, retired contractor

Ralph Archabald DeLoy, 96, of Rehoboth Beach, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2018, at Delaware Hospice Center in Milford. He was born Jan. 13, 1922, in Cheboygan, Mich., son of the late William and Elza (Gahn) DeLoy.

Mr. DeLoy proudly served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard in World War II at Fort Miles where he trained German Shepherd dogs for military use. His career spanned many years as a contractor in the Rehoboth Beach area. Mr. DeLoy was a 32 degree member of Jefferson Lodge  15 AF & AM of Lewes where he had served as past master.

Mr. DeLoy enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and playing cards with his very good friend, Anna Misener. Mr. DeLoy was known for his great sense of humor, and will be greatly missed by his German Shepherd, Hunter.

In addition to his parents, Mr. DeLoy was preceded in death by his loving wife, Geraldine S. DeLoy; his son, Douglas R. DeLoy; and his daughter, Mary Ann DeLoy. He is survived by his daughter Shirley A. Dawson (William) of Lewes; his son, Michael E. DeLoy (Sally) of Milton; his grandchildren: Karen, DJ, Jamie, Keith, Mark, Joseph, Gregory and Amanda; and his eight great-grandchildren.

All services will be private.

Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mr. DeLoy's name to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
