Reader doesn’t miss Don Flood’s column

August 23, 2016

In response to those few people who mentioned that they miss Don Flood's column, I would like to offer some balance, which is one thing Don Flood never did.

His weekly space was blatantly one-sided, sometimes mean-spirited and full of braggadocio. As a result, Mr. Flood caused this paper to have an unfair bias, countered by no one. For some to express the opinion that the majority of people in Sussex County are liberal, and therefore Mr. Flood's column was a good thing, is ridiculous.

The Cape Gazette is not a national political newspaper. It does an excellent job covering the politics and happenings in our county and our area. In my opinion, at least, Mr. Flood consistently deviated from this mission.

I wish him no ill and good luck, but the Cape Gazette is a far better periodical since his departure.
