Reception for Dan Bartasavich art exhibit at CAMP Rehoboth set Sept. 30

September 23, 2017

CAMP Rehoboth Community Center will host Great Repair, an exhibit by local artist Dan Bartasavich. An opening reception is set for 5 to 7 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 30.

As he traveled to exotic places, Bartasavich met amazing people and heard life-changing stories that eclipsed what he thought he was traveling to see. Instead of finding beach paradises, he found miles of piled-high trash in and along the waters, and feral children sleeping in flower beds and begging for his half-eaten meals. Witnessing these humbling experiences motivated Bartasavich to create his art.

Great Repair is his healing experience made of thoughts, dreams and life journeys that explore the issues of environmental degradation, racism, homophobia, spirituality, solidarity, politics, addiction and recovery. Every piece in this show is made up of repurposed materials from his travels and beach cleanups, often including reclaimed paint. Bartasavich uses his experiences to reinvent himself and change the world. He challenges viewers by asking, "What is your Great Repair?"

CAMP Rehoboth is at 37 Baltimore Ave., Rehoboth Beach.
