Rehoboth Main Street eyes plan to move forward

Transition team to consider future of organization
February 27, 2017

Rehoboth Beach Main Street, slated to dissolve next month, will instead move forward under a transition team.

Main Street’s current board has reached an agreement in principle with several downtown businesses to explore ways to keep the organization active. Although next month the organization will have no executive director,  Diane Laird of the Delaware Economic Development Office, which oversees Main Street organizations, said the new organization would have a grace period of six to nine months to reorganize and decide if they could develop a viable strategy for the organization to continue on as an accredited Main Street organization.

The transition team, consisting of current board members, will work with interested business leaders to appoint new board members. The current board will set a meeting in the coming weeks to decide how the transition will move forward.
