Rehoboth should uphold planners’ decision

January 12, 2018

We have been coming to Rehoboth for over 65 years. We have owned property here for over 43 years, two of which are located on Terrace Road. We spend most of the year here, and we consider this to be God's Country.

The purpose of this letter is to urge the Rehoboth commissioners to uphold the decision of the Rehoboth Planning Commission: the proposed project is a major subdivision and, to proceed with the project, the developer must submit the required subdivision application.

This subdivision will seriously affect our lives, as neighbors of the Bay Mart Shopping Center. These are the very obvious, legitimate, and serious concerns:

1. Fire safety
2. Parking
3. Traffic congestion
4. The capacity of the Newbold pumping station
5. The impact on Silver Lake and other environmental concerns.

In conclusion, we want to see the old Bay Mart shopping center developed. However, Rehoboth is not the place for a rental ghetto that will present numerous safety issues and overwhelm city infrastructure!!
