Is Reid K. Beveridge's labored attempt at humor in the March 21 Gazette ("Progressives showing classic symptom's of grief") the type of arrogant tripe we can expect from the newly puffed-up right wing?
Mr. Beveridge cutely mixes Kubler-Ross' stages of grief with progressives' well-founded concerns about life in Trump's Amerika. Absent is any recognition about the legitimacy of those concerns.
Beveridge is apparently without concern himself that the nation is now run by a certifiable sex offender who is incapable or unwilling to recognize or speak the truth. Beveridge pokes fun that the second stage of grief involves "blaming others" like the Russians. He treats this as some sort of cognitive deficiency when daily news reports are confirming that indeed, the Russians, as well as Trump's minions (and probably himself) worked closely to manipulate our national election.
He goes on to bemoan the fact that Democratic senators may not vote for Trump's Supreme Court pick, and that this represents another of the grief stages interfering with the right's way. Now, this resistance would relate how to past Republican grief and sabotage of Obama's Supreme Court nominee?
It is a matter of grave concern to progressives that the various powers of government are so misaligned that millions of people will suffer.
Corporations will profit while actual people lose meaningful healthcare benefits. It is a considerable misfortune that the best hopes rest in part with the responses of ethical Republicans, unfortunately an increasingly oxymoronic reference. Reid Beveridge's drivel is no encouragement in that regard.
