The Reminders holiday concerts set in Dover Dec. 8 and Georgetown Dec. 9

December 4, 2016

The Reminders, Delaware's Americana-gospel trio, will be on a holiday tour in December, sharing soulful music and lyrics that speak to people who are looking for hope, joy and renewal of deeper spiritual connections. The group's tour begins at the famous Marble Collegiate Church in Manhattan and continues through Connecticut, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island before ending with two performances in Delaware, at 7 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 8, at The Schwartz Center for the Arts in Dover, and at 7 p.m., Friday, Dec. 9, at Crossroad Community Church in Georgetown.

On stage with The Reminders will be Lynda Randle, a seasoned and award-winning singer from Kansas City, Mo. Featured on their newest Christmas CD is a song titled "The Peacechance Carol." John Thompson, who wrote the song, said, "Its lyrics speak to those who come in reverence or revel ... who are weary from fighting evil." Other favorites include "Joseph," which offers a plausible perspective from a historic character who is not often represented in music. The folksier "Never Put Christmas Away" reflects on the magic of the season for children and the young at heart.

"The magical spirit of Christmas brings out the inner child in all of us," said Ed Shockley of Lewes. The song "Never Put Christmas Away" says, "There are things the angels only let the children see, you don't have to keep them locked up in your memories, cause in your heart it's OK, to never put Christmas away."

This year's holiday concert marks the group's first tour in more than a year after battling life-threatening conditions and related challenges for Thompson and Kevin Short. "The good news is that we're back with renewed strength and a deeper desire to share our craft and our music. We all yearn for a brighter tomorrow, and our songs speak to that desire," said Short.

The group members have not been idle in their time off; they began recording their fifth album this summer in Woodstock, N.Y., and will release 12 brand-new songs in 2017. For more information, go to www.thereminders.net.
