Richard A. Absher, owned painting company

Richard A. Absher, 59, of Georgetown, died Sunday, Aug. 28, 2016, at Penn Presbyterian Hospital in Philadelphia, Pa.

Richard was born in Milford, son of the late J. Levi and Ina (Bowers) Absher.

Richard was owner and operator of Absher Painting and Repair. He loved NASCAR and collecting its memorabilia. He also enjoyed being outdoors camping, fishing, or sitting in the garage spending time with his brother.

In addition to his parents, Richard is preceded in death by his wife, Ellen E. (Bradley) Absher; and siblings, Dexter and Cora Absher.

He is survived by two children, Jacob Absher of Milford and Nicole Hitchens, of Baltimore, Md.; six siblings, JL Absher and wife Shirley of Bridgeville, Susie Brittingham and husband Jesse, and Leroy Absher, all of Georgetown, Dianna West and husband Richard of Millsboro, Barbara Warfle and husband Eddie of Bethel, and Nancy Passwaters of New Jersey; stepmother, Carol Lee Absher; five stepsisters, Lola Cunningham, Brenda Taggart and Linda Lape, all of Florida, Connie Garris of Houston and Becky Mosley of Milford; his dogs, Taz and Vinnie; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 3, in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown, with visitation after 11 a.m. Entombment will be in Union Cemetery.
