Richard 'Rick' M. Deppe, real family man

Richard 'Rick' M. Deppe, 68, of Georgetown, was born Oct. 22, 1949, and passed  Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2017, after his prolonged battle with cancer.

Rick was born in Rockville Center, N.Y., and grew up in Merrick, N.Y., where he ran track on the high school team. Rick worked in construction, in and around New York City and New Jersey, until his retirement. He was very proud of having helped build Manhattan and Trump Tower on 5th Avenue.

Rick had an immense love of fishing and boating. He met Faye in Delaware, and soon after they both moved from Delaware to Florida where he could fish every day. While in Florida he volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, and was in charge of construction due to his extensive background in the field. Also, in Florida he became a member of the Knights of Columbus and received his 4th degree. Rick was also a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society. He was a family man and loved spending time with children.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Ruth Deppe.

He is survived by his loving wife Faye, truly his Guardian Angel; two children, Kimberly and Richie of North Carolina; and a grandson Max; siblings, Lisa of Manhattan, N.Y., Karen and husband Ralph of Pittsburgh, Pa., Jim and his wife Barbara of Frostburg, Md., Tim and his wife Michelle of Millsboro, and Chuck and his wife Barbara of Hopewell Jct., N.Y.

A time of visitation will be held Monday, Dec. 4, from 2 to 4 p.m. in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal St., Milton. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 5, at 11 a.m., at St. Jude the Apostle Church, 152 Tulip Drive, Lewes. Burial will be private.
