Bob Megee

Robert Clifford Megee, 81, of Long Neck, died Thursday, July 13, 2017, at Seasons Hospice, Newark, after suffering a massive stroke at home July 4. He was born March 13, 1936, in Philadelphia, Pa., son of the late William Clifford and Belinda (Monaghan) Megee.

He worked for many years as a driver-salesman for several dairies in New Jersey and Delaware, and owned his own business for nine years.

Bob was raised in Philadelphia, but spent many summers during childhood in Ocean View where his father's family was from, and so he chose to move his family to Long Neck in 1971. He enjoyed his family, fishing, Notre Dame and Eagles football, eating home-cooked meals, traveling to Ireland, and Socks, a stray cat that adopted him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Lynn. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Maureen; his children, Sue (Craig) Snyder of Hockessin, and Paul of Auburn Hills, Mich.; cherished granddaughters, Megan and Abby Snyder of Hockessin; his sisters, Claire (Hank) Yost of New Jersey, and Charlotte MacElrath of Florida; sisters- and brothers-in-law in Ireland and England; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Mary Mother of Peace Catholic Church, 30839 Mount Joy Road, Millsboro, at 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 18, where friends may call one hour prior for visitation. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Dagsboro.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to St. Patrick Fathers, 8422 W. Windsor Ave., Chicago, IL 60656 or stpatrickfathers.org.
