Roger J. Bickel Jr., retired courier

Roger J. Bickel Jr. of Lewes, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2017, at his home with his daughter Robin at his side. He was born Feb. 23, 1940, in Darby, Pa., son of the late Roger J. and Mary (Connlley) Bickel.

Roger lived most of his life in Claymont. Before retiring to Lewes, his working career was as a courier for Brandywine School District.

Roger was predeceased by his loving wife Jane in 2009. He is survived by his loving daughter and caregiver, Robin Burns; three sons, Wayne, Roger and Gregory; his two sisters, Carole Herman (Ed) and Peggy Veasey (Bob); several grandchildren and nieces; and he was a Pop Pop to Annie.

Memorial Services will be held Saturday, Oct. 21, at 3 p.m., at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, where friends may visit beginning at 2 p.m. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Roger's name to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 N. Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.
