Ronald Edward Bowen, environmental steward

Ronald Edward Bowen, 66, of Lewes passed away Sunday, May 6, 2018, at Milford Place in Milford. He was born Dec. 12, 1951, in Lewistown, Pa., son of the late Bert Amos Bowen and Martha Bressler Bowen of Mechanicsburg, Pa.

Mr. Bowen was a 1969 graduate of Chief Logan High School in Lewistown, and went on to receive his bachelor of science degree in engineering from Penn State University in 1977. After his time in the National Guard from 1970-76, his career spanning 30 years began with the Public Works Department for Anne Arundel County, Md., where he retired in 2013 as the director of public works.

He enjoyed wood working, playing golf, fishing and biking with his wife, and worked for many years with the Boy Scouts of America. His passion was for being a proponent of environmental stewardship, which led to him being a co-founder of the Anne Arundel County Watershed Stewards Academy.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Linda Lou Bowen; his son Michael Bowen (Danielle) of Clarksburg, Md.; his daughter, Aimee Isaac (Eugene) of Rehoboth Beach, and their three children, Avery, Everett and Addison; two sisters, Bonita Archfield (John) of Mechanicsburg, and Beverly Spada (Tony) of St. Augustine, Fla.

A celebration of his life in Lewistown will be announced at a later date.
