Ronald "Ron" C. Tennant Sr., retired banker

Ronald "Ron" C. Tennant Sr., 70, of Dover, passed away Friday, May 12, 2017, at Christiana Hospital in Newark following a stroke and heart failure. He was born in Charleston, W.Va., son of Billie C. Tennant and Marjorie Downs Tennant.

Mr. Tennant, a graduate of Henry C. Conrad High Sschool, received a bachelor’s degree from Florida State University where he was a member of the TKE Fraternity. He served in the U.S. Marines as a Corporal E-4 in Vietnam. Mr. Tennant had a long career as a bank officer at the following financial institutions: Wilmington Trust, Beneficial National Bank, Peoples Bank, Sun National Bank, and retired after working as vice president of commercial banking at First Bank of Delaware.

Mr. Tennant's greatest joy in life were his sons, William and Ronald Tennant Jr. From the moment they were born, he cherished their time together. He was a wonderful father who was always there for them. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. He was an avid reader, enjoyed playing cards with the guys, golf, fishing, and watching Phillies baseball, Philadelphia Eagles and Florida State football.

Mr. Tennant was predeceased by his parents and two sons. He is survived by Deborah Walsh Tennant of Milton; two sisters, Deborah (Ronald) Murray of Middletown and Patricia (Joseph) Salvatore of Bear; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, May 19, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes. Friends may call beginning at 1 p.m. Interment with military honors will follow services at Henlopen Memorial Park, 28787 Lockerman Road, Milton.
