Rosemary Hanyok, retired accounting clerk

Rosemary Hanyok, 89, of Lewes, passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 15, 2017, at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford. She was born Tuesday, May 31, 1927, in Washington, D.C., daughter of the late Howard D. and Mary (Wood) Wesley.

Rosemary grew up in Laurel, Md., where she attended grade school and graduated from Laurel High School in 1948. She started her career working for the U.S. government as a clerical secretary before transitioning to the state of Maryland, where she worked as an accounting clerk, retiring in 1996. Following her retirement, she moved full time to Lewes. She enjoyed her beloved beach house which she and her family frequented for years, as well as camping and traveling. She was also an avid supporter of the SPCA and loved her many pets, especially her Italian greyhound Kandy. Above all, Rosemary loved the time spent with her family and her grandchildren, who were the apples of her eyes.
In addition to her parents, Rosemary was preceded in death by her loving husband, Paul Hanyok, in 2005; her son-in-law Tom Avery; and her two brothers, Howard and James Wesley. She is survived by her son, Paul Michael Hanyok and his fiancé Barbara Shry of Frederick, Md.; her daughters, Patricia Mary Avery of Lewes and Linda Marie Brammer and her husband Jesse, also of Lewes; her grandchildren: Sean Michael Hanyok of Frederick, Brad Michael Hanyok of Sykesville, Md., Christopher Michael Hanyok and his wife Jessica of Delmar, Md., Ashley Anne Parker and her husband Mark of Federalsburg, Md., Brooke Michelle Hanyok of Baltimore, Md., Jesse B. Frederick Brammer III of Lewes, Jami Lynn Brammer and her husband Kyle of Lewes, Jena Marie Catts and her husband Doug of Lewes, Zachary Robert Avery of Lewes and Kelly Rose Avery and her fiancé Alex Hamilton of Lewes; her great-grandchildren: Raelynn Hanyok, Leah Parker, Merek Harrigan-Ferro, Kylee Harrigan-Ferro, Dane Harrigan-Ferro, Stella Catts and Luke Catts; her brothers, Michael Wesley and his wife Gail of Mechanicsville, Md., and Lawrence Wesley and his wife Lana of Lewes; her sisters, Gerry Phillips and her husband Judge of Bozman, Md., and Linda Curran and her husband Joe of Lewes.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, March 20, at 10 a.m., at St. Jude The Apostle Catholic Church, 152 Tulip Drive, Lewes. Interment will immediately follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 32112 Vines Creek Road, Dagsboro. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.
