Rotary donates $3,000 for Delaware Tech scholarships

August 20, 2017

The Lewes-Rehoboth Rotary Club recently donated $3,000 to Delaware Technical Community College Owens Campus for two $1,500 scholarships.

One is earmarked for a military veteran in support of the school's new Veteran Resource Center. The special veterans room is outfitted with chairs, sofas, and computers. Army veteran Terry Plank said, "Having a place where we can go and feel safe, and know we are surrounded by like-minded people just gives us an opportunity to come together."

The other scholarship is earmarked for a deserving student in the college's study abroad program. The course starts with on-campus classes during the spring semester and ends with a faculty-led trip abroad for an 8- to10-day experience of a lifetime.

Rotary's mission is to make the greater Lewes community a better place to live, work, go to school and raise a family, through service and fundraising projects. The club meets at 5:15 p.m. every Monday for dinner at Irish Eyes in Lewes. Community-spirited individuals are invited to attend.
