Run, walk, or eat pancakes Aug 13 at Buddy Walk in Dewey Beach
The Dewey Beach Lions Club is hosting their annual pancake breakfast Sunday, Aug. 13, from 8 to 10 a.m. at their clubhouse, 115 McKinley St, on the bay in Dewey Beach. The breakfast, including pancakes, bacon, eggs, sausage, hash browns, and coffee, is included in the cost of registration for the 5K Dewey Buddy Run/Walk that starts 7:30 a.m., in front of the Lions clubhouse. Cold beer and Bloody Marys are included in the cost of registration for the race, as well. For registration information go to DeweyBuddyRun.com.
Non-runners can purchase breakfast tickets at the door, $9.50 for adults, and $4.50 for children.
The Dewey Buddy Run has been a joint project between the Boardwalk Buddy Walk and Best Buddies Delaware and the Lions Club for six years. This year the event is being produced by Focus Multisports. They promote fun, quality races that benefit many local charities and community organizations.
To attract more families, and to be more inclusive to participants with different abilities, a walk component has been added to the Buddy Run, and a free Kiddie Dash, before the run, for young runners.
The goal is to raise awareness for people with disabilities, through inclusion. The post-race celebration is sure to include plenty of race swag and some awesome memorable moments. For details contact dennis@boardwalkbuddywalk.com.
