Sō Percussion to perform in Lewes April 14

April 11, 2018

This Saturday, April 14, Coastal Concerts will be presenting a recent hit at Kennedy Center. Reviews typically focus on the headliner, but a reviewer in “The Washington Post” also highlighted the performance of supporting instrumentalists saying, "...the redoubtable Sō Percussion...certainly helped to sell a program of ear-friendly new work," as they helped enriched the performance of Dawn Upshaw.

Known for innovative compositions and interpretations of classic pieces, Sō Percussion creates one-of-a-kind music using traditional instruments, and virtually anything that will produce a sound. This is the first percussion ensemble ever to be staged in Coastal Concerts' 19-year history.

Thanks to Dogfish Head Craft Brewery, the Mid-Atlantic Arts Foundation, and the Delaware Division of the Arts, general admission for this "Wild Card" concert is $25. Tickets are available online at www.coastalconcerts.org with a credit card, or at the door with cash or check. Youngsters 18 and under and an accompanying adult are both admitted free with advance reservation by calling 800-212-6458. Full-time students 19 and above as well as active duty and retired military personnel with valid ID are admitted at the reduced price of $10.

Performance time is 8 p.m. at Bethel United Methodist Church, 4th and Market streets in Lewes. Starting at 6:30, the musicians of Sō Percussion will host a discussion with audience members.

This engagement of Sō Percussion is made possible through the Delaware Special Presenters Initiative program of the Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation with support from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Delaware Division of the Arts.
