Saketumi of Rehoboth raises $1,000 for breast cancer coalition

Campaign started with swear jar during hockey playoffs
February 7, 2017

Saketumi of Rehoboth Beach recently donated $1,000 to the local fight against breast cancer in Delaware. The fundraiser started with a swear jar during hockey playoffs. As the money grew, a customer offered to match the donations. Then Saketumi matched the donations, and rounded the total to $1,000. Restaurant Manager Donny Sanjaya asked Steve "Monty" Montgomery, co-owner of The Starboard restaurant, where to donate the funds, and he suggested the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition.

The donated funds will be used to support breast cancer programs in Delaware which increase breast cancer awareness, promote the importance of early detection, provide access to mammograms and bilingual health navigators, and deliver support and resources to women and men who have been diagnosed with breast cancer. Saketumi is a modern Asian fusion and sushi restaurant in Rehoboth Beach. It offers dishes from a variety of Asian cuisines.
