Salon Milton raised $5,700 during its Salon Fund Razor benefiting local nonprofits.

This year, 65 percent of funds raised will go toward the Gladys Wilkins Seeding the Future Scholarship, and the remainder will benefit the Milton Community Fund, which manages the Gladys Wilkins scholarship.

The Feb. 12 event featured about 50 silent auction items donated by local businesses including Po' Boys Creole Food Truck, Irish Eyes, and Miltonian Pizzeria & Wing House, among others.

Salon Milton owner John Potocki estimated about 150 people participated in the event. Since the Fund Razor began about a decade ago, Potocki said, the event has raised more than $25,000 in donations to community organizations.

“I’ve always strongly felt that small businesses should network together,” Potocki said. “I just feel that I want to work with and give back to my community because they’ve given so much to me.”
