Salvation Army celebrates National Donut Day

Salvation Army volunteers spent the morning of June 1 handing out free donuts and water on the Boardwalk in Rehoboth in honor of National Donut Day.

According to the Salvation Army website, the first National Donut Day was celebrated in 1938 by The Salvation Army in Chicago. Salvation Army “Donut Lassies” served donuts to soldiers during World War I.
