Santa’s Lewes house refurbishments complete in time for holidays

December 10, 2016

A ribbon cutting was held for the newly refurbished Lewes Santa House before hospitality night festivities Dec. 1. Mayor Ted Becker acknowledged the generosity of all who contributed their donated services to the project. Randy Burton, who coordinated the building renovation, recruited many businesses and individuals to work on the house.

Denise Poslusny donated her talents to make, purchase and hang the new curtains. Carol Fehrenbach's family business donated the new carpet, and Daphne Blaker represented the Cape Artists who created the original art on the building.

Becker recognized the longtime efforts of the Russ family who have been the caretakers of Santa's house for many years. Nancy Russ and husband George, who passed away earlier this year, have been involved with the Lions Club and decorating the tree inside the house for many years. This year, the Lions Club donated a new tree and decorations to complement the house's new interior.

The Russ children are continuing the family traditions of giving back to the community through service. They assist with the annual Lewes Christmas Parade by putting up the lights for the announcer's and judges' reviewing stand. Two of the Russes' children, Chris and Sara, and their other son Phil's son, Braedon, were able to attend the ceremony.
